Wednesday October 29, 2014 - A brother to late former Juja MP, George Thuo, on Tuesday told a Milimani court that the late lawmaker died of cardiac arrest.
Samuel Ngugi, who is the younger brother of George Thuo, told the court that doctors from the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi examined the late MP and told the family that he died of a heart attack.
Ngugi, who is the fifth witnesses to testify in connection with Thuo’s mysterious death, said he was shocked to hear that postmortem reports indicated that Thuo was poisoned with a pesticide.
“We were not told where the poison had been administered. All I know is that my brother was in good health. He even used to make us go for checkups just to keep our bodies in shape,” Ngugi said.
Ngugi told the court that he was with his brother before he died and Thuo had not complained of any health condition.
He said he later received a phone call from Judith, Thuo’s wife that the MP collapsed at Porkies Bar and had been taken to Thika Nursing Home.
“We dashed to the hospital and upon arrival, I saw my brother lying there on a stretcher with doctors attending to him. I overheard them say that they could not find a pulse on my brother,” said Ngugi.
Paul Wainaina , the restaurant’s owner, has been charged alongside Christopher Andika, Andrew Karanja ,Samuel Kuria , waitress Ester Ndinda and Ruth Watahi.
The six are accused of killing Thuo on November 17 last year.
Traces of lethal pesticide were found on Thuo’s beer bottle.
