Wednesday October 29, 2014 - Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has finally laid bare his secret game plan for the Okoa Kenya referendum that will see President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, thrashed.
After collection of signatures, Raila Odinga will not just hand over the signatures and the referendum Bill to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as Uhuru/Ruto’s Jubilee is expecting, but will embark on a 30-day nationwide campaign to popularize the referendum before submitting the Bill to IEBC.
Speaking to CORD MPs who paid him a courtesy call at his office, Raila noted that him, together with his co-principals in CORD, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula, have planned to a have a 30-day campaign period throughout the country beginning from Mombasa this coming Sunday to ensure they convert Kenyans to support their plebiscite.
After Sunday’s rally in Mombasa, CORD will announce a programme of rallies and Town Hall meetings across the country leading up to the handover of the Bill in about a month.
The public meetings will mark the final phase of signature collection before the referendum Bill goes to the IEBC for approval.
Uhuru/ Ruto’s Jubilee is targeting to nip Raila Odinga’s referendum Bill in the bud at the IEBC by tampering with signatures, but the delay by CORD to submit the signatures than anticipated may buy them more time to counter Jubilee’s nefarious plot.
