A pair of UK citizens was allegedly taken into police custody in the beach resort of Diani, on the south coast.

According to reports they were arrested after being found to to have been in possession of hand grenades. According to The Independent, "A Foreign Office spokesman, who said he could not give further details of the incident, said: ‘We are looking into reports of two British nationals detained in Kenya.’

Police have been on the look out to knuckle down on any suspicious terrorist activity, following the gruesome attack on Westgate Mall two months ago. There is a zero tolerance policy on terrorism, and there will be a thorough investigation into why exactly these tourists were in possession of these lethal weapons.

The Star has reported that Diani police have denied the widespread reports, with Diani DCIO Mwenda Ethiaba allegedly claiming the arrests are mere speculation.
