The media will reportedly engage in protest action today, in opposition to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s amendments to the already-controversial media Bill.
All Africa reports the demonstrations are set to take place throughout Nairobi, and will move towards Harambee Avenue, where journalists will reportedly present a memorandum to the President, via The Standard.
The Bill, dubbed 'Draconian' innially caused an uproar upon its formation, leading the media to place their hopes in the hands of the President. Mr. Uhuru’s changes however set-off various other fears for the future of the media in Kenya, causing unrest among the people.
The reported strike seeks to bring about change and prevent further degradation of the media.
