In a rare occasion in Nairobi at the Friends of Raila FORA Offices, Imenti Central MP Gitobu Imanyara together with Meru leaders threw their support to ODM saying that its leader Raila Odinga is the person who stood for genuine change that the nation needs. The meeting was seen a move by like minded reformists coming together to give the country the future it deserves.

The next coming general election is taking shape between reformists on one side and the so called non-reformists on the other side. The joining of the friends of Raila (FORA) by Imanyara gives ODM an early advantage over the one million plus vote rich Meru block.

This comes at a time when central Kenya has many candidates for the presidency job. The situation which has been worsened by the Former Mungiki leader Maina Njengas entrence into elective politics. His entrance into politics has made him get huge following by the youths of the region. Read: Maina Njenga's MSM causing worries for Uhuru

Imanyara’s ties with Odinga had become closer than ever. Imanyara joined the group saying Raila was the true face of change in the country. He said that Kenya was ripe for change with Raila candidacy. Imanyara faulted presidential candidates who were ganging up against Raila that if asked what they would do for Kenya after blocking Raila, their faces would go blank.

Imanyara’s move to join the lobby group comes a few months after he alleged that a group of armed youths attacked him near status house and forced him to pledge allegiance to Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta saying ‘Uhuru tuko pamoja’ (Uhuru I am with you) three times facing Mt.Kenya.

The armed youth also threatened to cut Imanyara’s head and send it to his family if he disobeyed their orders by attending rallies which were held in Meru and Limuru which supported Raila.
